"Under liberty, we built the greatest, freest, most prosperous, most decent country on earth. It's no coincidence that the monstrous growth of the federal government has been accompanied by a sickening decline in living standards and moral standards. The feds want us to be hamsters on a treadmill--working hard, all day long, to pay high taxes, but otherwise entirely docile and controlled. The huge, expensive, and out-of-control leviathan that we call the federal government wants to run every single aspect of our lives. Well, I'm sorry, but that's not America. It's not what the Founders gave us. It's not the country you believe in. It's not the country I believe in." - In a speech by Congressman Ron Paul (2002)

From just one of several pages answering the same question:

He was on the campaign
On November 19th, 2007 phoobaar says:
He was on the campaign trail, AFAIK. And besides, have you seen the overwhelming majority by which that monstrosity passed the House? Paul's no vote would have been symbolic only.

At least Kucinich was present and DID vote AGAINST H.R. 1955. Not that I'm 100% sold on any candidate, but suiting up, getting into the ring and doing one's duty (in this case, for We The People) is not to be lightly dismissed. It's a little word called "priorities." Maybe Ron Paul's heard of it. Actions speak louder than excuses.

My priority is to see Ron Paul elected. I have 0 problems with his voting record. How about you find him voting for something I disagree with?

TJ, I've always loved your brashness. Now, how about you get off the assumption that anyone's going to go out of their way to research your pet political issues? **sheesh** /me parodies Steve Miller Band... "Fly like an ego, to the sea..."

ok, well you seem to be against Paul, and I am saying the evidence presented fails to convince.

The expense of time & money to travel all the way there for a "Nay" vote that would make zero difference would have been an issue against Ron Paul brought about by the same detractors. A "No Vote" served the same purpose of showing who did not support the atrocious measure.

If it was a close vote I'm sure Dr. Paul would have been there. But his detractors would like to have him in a no-win situation by demanding his presence when there was no difference in would have made, except for the time, energy and tax dollars that would have been wasted. The priority in this case was to keep getting the message out and was not to cast a "Nay" vote that would make no difference.
